The involvement of parents and guardians is crucial to the success of South Orange Middle School. You can

participate in SOMS Home & School Association in a variety of ways that fit your interest and schedules.

We welcome all hands!

 

Please look over this sheet and check off any and all activities for which you would like to volunteer or chair.

      ONGOING ACTIVITIES

____Board of Education Liaison:  Attend Board of Education meetings generally held on 1st and 3rd Mondays of the

          month at the Administration Building and report to the HSA Executive Board on issues of concern to SOMS

____Special Education Liaison: Special Education Parent who would advise the HSA Board on issues dealing with  

         Special Education within SOMS and the district.

   ____Hospitality: Provide refreshments and/or help with set-up or clean up at teacher appreciation events, work parties, etc.

____Copying: Work with the Coordinating Secretary copying and performing other office duties.

____Library Volunteer:  Donate time to work at school library based on your schedule.  You choose date and time.

____Phone Chain:  Make early morning phone calls for snow closings or other emergencies.

____Performing Arts: Help behind the scenes of the All School Musical: set design, costumes, make-up, etc.

____New Families:  Help contact and welcome new families to SOMS.

____Student/Faculty Tournaments: Organize and run student/faculty basketball tournaments (fall/spring). Afternoon hours.
